how to soothe a teething baby at night

Massage in the gums

The first teeth are usually associated with pain in the child, usually at the age of about six to eight months. The screaming is great and as much compassion as a parent with the child also has, at some point the nerves are bare. Father Joy has the best tips to calm the baby.

The bad news first: You have to go through teething, as well as your child. If you are not one of the lucky ones whose child takes the breakthrough of the baby teeth with them, creativity is needed now to make it easier for the baby, and thus for yourself, this difficult time.

When you are in the office or at the kitchen or in a different room at nights, if you are baby is feeling uncomfortable while the first teeth you can easily monitor using The Best Baby Monitor.

When the teeth go in

Not every measure will help every child alike and in any case, but you probably already know that from the first few months when your child was plagued with stomachaches and crying attacks. Try the following tips and we wish you already one of them works:

  • Pressure on the gums makes it easier for many babies to complain about their teeth. Suitable for this is, for example, a message with the fingers or with silicone fingerlings from the pharmacy, and cooled teething rings can facilitate teething. When buying, you should, however, pay particular attention to tested pollutant-free products.
  • Chewing also relieves and also distracts. For older children, you can offer hard food. You can offer hard white bread or apple halves, for example. Whole grain bread is not allowed, because that does not endure the digestion of a baby.

Does not help the distraction, then it may work with the stunning. For this the following means are available:

• Homoeopathic remedies, available over the counter in the pharmacy, can relieve a toothache. Many children are helped especially by Oceania or Chamomilla. As with all medical supplies, you should also consult with the doctor or get informed by the pharmacist.

• Dentinox, a lidocaine-based drug, has an anaesthetic effect. It helps a lot, but can cause allergies and should therefore only be used in an emergency.

Exotic, but just as helpful can be a violet root for chewing. The root releases a natural anaesthetic.

• If nothing helps, try an amber necklace. Some parents swear by it and if it does not help, it still looks very nice on your baby. However, one should always consider possible dangers and therefore take off the chain at night.

Pain or no pain?

In such phases, I have no idea if it is actually the tooth that causes insomnia or if there are other reasons (exciting daily routine, growth spurt, nervous parents …). Since our girl is crying very rarely, I also can not judge well if she has any pain at all. Is it perhaps just a feeling of pressure, which causes inner turmoil? Or does she have (great) pain and just suffers from being silent?

Whatever happens to her, I would like to release her tension and help her sleep more. If necessary with medication. But what and in what dose should I give her if I do not know the “illness” exactly?

Teething & natural pain relief

If our girl goes bad, of course, I want to help her. Literally. I always try harmless methods first, before putting drugs on her little body:

Breastfeeding and direct skin contact is not only our remedy No. 1 – the pain-relieving effect could be proven during the medical treatment of small children (see also ” naturally relieve pain during teething “). Proximity helps and is important. How important, everyone notices himself when he is ill.

Remedy number 2 is with us wear. With the first teeth, our girl was not able to keep her permanently. She had a high fever and only wanted to sleep in a baby sling, so I carried her through the apartment for nights. Meanwhile, she usually prefers to stay in bed. Only when it’s really bad, she still wants to hug.
